Happy First Birthday!

and today she turns one officially, with her second heat that has just ended not too long ago. i can almost remember how tiny she was when we first brought her home and now, she's actually growing up faster than i am. do i say i'm greying or do i say she's just growing too rapidly?

it was one evil saturday afternoon when we've arranged to meet her previous owner up at starbucks. she came with the little monster in her arms, she was soooooooo light and i wasn't expecting such warm greeting to come from a spoilt rascal like her. she pawed on my chest, attempting to kiss me on my lips, wagged her tail and hinting that she wanted to play.

my heart melt.

and it was at this moment, i believe, when everything else became fate.

i brought her home that same saturday, after fighting a mental barrier with the objections that were bound to come from my mother. but i guess, she was too sweet to care more.

i remember the expression on my parents when they came home to find a puppy running around, slipping every now and then 'cause my home's granite floor was too slippery for her furry paws. my mother's first sentence came as a sweet surprise. she said in a non-sarcastic manner,

"wah, you really go and bring a dog home ah."

i was expecting nothing of that sort. in fact, i was already prepared for the worst to come from her. some sort of a,

"eh, who says you can bring a dog home?"

but of course, a wish granted meant a lot more responsibility afterwards. my mother had wanted me to mop the floor daily, which i never did 'cause i never had the energy to after i come home from work (my energy exhausted from work, and then further exhausted from playing with gigi), but instead, my best-est father helped me with the dirty chores.

the first couple of nights were a nightmare. she whined so much, i couldn't sleep at night. and she, rascal, decided that my bed was a pee ground when i offered her space to sleep with me. that monster!

i taught her basic commands, recording tedious processes here and there.

and you wouldn't imagine the shock i have of my life, to wake up one morning to find my mother preparing food for her. it was only then, did i realise that she has accept my girl as part of the family. today, she most probably cannot live without her too. just like my dad, my sister and my brother.

let lest me, for i'm almost nothing without my boyfriend and her.

she (or rather, they) gave me a reason to smile when the mood swings for no rythm or reason.

and till date, i've never loved her (or them) any lesser than yesterday.

Happy 1st Birthday, Darling.
